Lewandowski Breaks Long-Standing Bundesliga Record

Robert Lewandowski sets new Bundesliga goalscoring record.

Lewandowski scores 41 goals in the 2020/21 season, surpassing Gerd Müller's record of 40 goals in a season.

Robert Lewandowski has made history in the Bundesliga, breaking Gerd Müller's long-standing record for goals scored in a single season. Lewandowski scored his 41st goal of the 2020/21 season in Bayern Munich's 5-2 win over Augsburg on the final day of the campaign, surpassing Müller's record of 40 goals in the 1971/72 season.

Lewandowski's record-breaking goal came in the 90th minute of the match, with the Polish striker finishing off a move involving Thomas Müller and Kingsley Coman. The goal sparked wild celebrations from Lewandowski and his Bayern teammates, as well as from the fans in attendance at the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski's achievement is all the more remarkable considering that he missed several games through injury during the season. He also had to overcome a slow start to the campaign, scoring just four goals in his first eight league appearances. However, Lewandowski found his form in the second half of the season, scoring 27 goals in his last 21 Bundesliga matches.

Lewandowski's record-breaking season has helped Bayern Munich win their ninth consecutive Bundesliga title. The Polish striker has been a key figure in Bayern's success in recent years, scoring over 200 goals for the club in all competitions.

Lewandowski's achievement is a testament to his exceptional goalscoring ability and his dedication to the game. He is now one of the greatest strikers in Bundesliga history, and his record is likely to stand for many years to come.
